Associate Automation & Controls Engineer
At Lykos Controls, we help startups and innovative manufacturers build automation systems that are modern, scalable, and sustainable. As an Automation Integrator, you’ll join a small, fast-moving team where you’ll gain hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems while helping deliver automation projects from concept to commissioning. This is an entry-level role designed for someone who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow into a well-rounded controls engineer.
Many early-stage companies lack strong automation foundations. By joining our team, you’ll help build systems that reduce downtime, improve efficiency, and set our clients up for growth. Your work will directly impact how factories run smarter and more sustainably.
- Program and integrate PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems
- Assist with system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting in the field
- Support the design and documentation of automation solutions
- Collaborate with clients and teammates to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or equivalent hands-on experience
- Familiarity with PLC programming or logical thinking (ladder logic, function blocks, or scripting)
- Understanding of basic industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, OPC UA, MQTT)
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and willingness to travel to client sites
- Experience with HMI/SCADA platforms (Ignition, Groov View, FactoryTalk, or similar)
- Basic knowledge of industrial networking and cybersecurity principles
- Exposure to motion control systems (motors, actuators, pneumatics)
- Familiarity with electrical schematics or panel wiring
- Internship or co-op experience in industrial automation
You’ll be part of a collaborative team where you’ll gain real responsibility from day one. This hybrid role combines office-based design work with hands-on implementation in the field. Travel to client sites for system commissioning and support is a core part of the role, giving you direct experience with real-world automation challenges.
